An Invitation To Help Us Out

Dear 30th Glasgow Members/Parents/Guardians and Friends

As you may know, the 30th Glasgow Scout Group have been running for over 100 years,  and  have always had a strong leader base, but now we need your help.

We have suddenly lost both our Cub and Beaver leaders, and we have no one to take over either of the sections in September. The experienced leaders we have in other sections are willing to run the Cubs and Beavers until we fill the vacancies.

That is were you come in! We are holding a recruitment and brainstorming night at the Scout Hall on Thursday 16th August (Next Thursday) and we hope you can attend.

You have been invited because you may be a parent, ex-member, or just have a close past association with the 30th. The recruitment night is facilitated by Gary Bainbridge from Clyde Scouts, and all the current 30th leaders.

You may feel that you are unable to help, but I would encourage you to come along as you may know someone who can help or may feel you can assist in other small but important ways once you have seen the list of jobs and tasks that are needing done.

The night will also give parents a chance to ask any questions about the Group, get to know the leaders and make any suggestions about how we run the Group.

I have been to a similar night before and it was very successful, the chance to brainstorm will help the troop move forwards and ultimately benefit the kids who come along to the hall. The 30th also want to work with the community to try and bring back some of the forgotten values of having a Scout Group in your local community, so your feedback and ideas will be valuable.

We will start at 7.30pm on the 16th August and be finished by 9pm. Doors will be open at 7pm if you wish to have a coffee before we start.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to call me on 07776 483 422 or get in touch via Facebook or Twitter

Please come and make a difference!

Yours in Scouting

Group Scout Leader,

Archive Photographs

I've recently taken to adding in some Archive Photographs of the 30th Glasgow to my Flickr account.

These can all be seen here:

If you have any photos (hard copies or digital that you would like to add to the collection, please email me at ross_vernal@hotmail.com

If you have dates for them that would be perfect - I'd like to create a very full collection ordered by decade so that we can preserve them forever.
